Media and Perception Management

An event titled "Media and Perception Management" was organized by the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Anti-Disinformation Society.

Speakers at the event included Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter İlyas Gün and the President of the Anti-Disinformation Society, Abdurrahim Cansız. The program proceeded interactively with questions from the participants.

AA reporter İlyas Gün shared his experiences regarding his journalism career, recounting his experiences in the field during the war in Syria and his memories from his time working in the earthquake zone during the 2023 earthquake disaster. Gün also touched upon the differences between journalistic approaches in Europe and Turkey, highlighting the differences in practices in news production processes.

Gün, in his speech, particularly drew attention to the dangers of disinformation, emphasizing that news must be verified before being shared on social media. He stated that the misperceptions that unverified false information can create in society can lead to serious negative consequences.

Community President Abdurrahim Cansız, in his speech, explained the purpose and importance of the Disinformation Combat Community. Cansız stated that raising awareness among individuals and increasing media literacy against rapidly spreading misinformation are the fundamental goals of their community.

The event, considered an important step in raising awareness about media and perception management, concluded with a group photo of all participants.
