The Faculty of Tourism hosted Bafra Mayor Hamit Kılıç

A "President-Student Meeting" was held at the Faculty of Tourism on May 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Bafra Mayor Hamit Kılıç in attendance. Moderated by Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Yetkin Bulut, President Kılıç listened carefully to the students' concerns, requests, and suggestions, offering candid explanations regarding possible solutions.

Mr. Kılıç began his speech by providing information about the Bafra Regional Cuisine book, which has been prepared in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism, and also discussed other ongoing projects. He addressed the content of the sixth International Kapıkaya Nature Sports and Culture Festival, inviting all participants to the festival. He also provided information about the current status of the National Garden, which is scheduled to be completed in June or July, emphasizing that the social opportunities offered in this area will significantly contribute to the social life of the people of Bafra.

At the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and the Mayor of Bafra gave the floor to the students, listening to their opinions, suggestions, and concerns about Bafra and the faculty. The students raised issues such as transportation problems, lack of social spaces, inadequate street lighting, lack of bus stops, and the need for pedestrian crossings on some roads. Mayor Kılıç stated that notes have been taken on all these issues and that the necessary work will be initiated as soon as possible.

Students also shared their suggestions for "what could be done in Bafra from a tourism perspective?" Responding to requests for lighting on the Çetinkaya Bridge and landscaping along the river, Mayor Kılıç stated that work is currently underway to connect Bafra to the sea and landscape the river, and that the bridge lighting may be reconsidered.

Mayor Kılıç, expressing his dream of a Bafra shaped by the energy of young people as part of his "Century of Youth" vision, emphasized the importance of strong communication with young people, saying: "Being with young people, listening to their ideas, and developing solutions to their problems is the foundation of building our future. As we carry Bafra into the future, every idea from young people is valuable to us. Our gathering here today is not just an event; it's also a meaningful step towards our shared future. As we always say, we are determined to govern Bafra through shared understanding and shared wisdom. I thank all my young colleagues who shared their views with us and wish them success." Mayor Kılıç added that they will support all projects that will contribute to the professional and academic development of Tourism Faculty students.

The event concluded with a souvenir photo taken with university students and ice cream served by the Bafra Municipality.
